The mission of Institut national de santé publique
du Québec is to provide
support to the Minister of Health and Social Services and local network

Public Health Laboratory (LSPQ) Institut
national de santé publique du
Québec is a center of public
health expertise and reference in Québec. Its goal is
to further knowledge and propose strategies and intersectorial
actions likely to improve the population’s state of health and
well-being. The Institute offers its expertise
and reference services in all areas of microbiology and physical chemistry to
private and hospital laboratories, public health branches, and Ministère de la Santé et des
Services sociaux via the Québec
Public Health Laboratory (LSPQ). It provides leadership in the areas of risk
evaluation, research, and the development of new tests and processes and acts
as a resource center for the health department and network. The LSPQ is a high tech, Level
3 biosafety lab certified ISO 9001 by the Standards
Council of Canada, and is a member of the Canadian Public Health Laboratory
Network. JOB
SUMMARY
Reporting to the president and CEO, the ideal candidate is a leader in
his/her field. He/she will take part in managing the organization and assume
professional and scientific responsibility for the lab. In cooperation with the
management team, he/she will draw up the action plan for his/her sector and see
to its fulfillment. MAIN LSPQ

Assist healthcare

microbiology and its impact on public health -
Diagnose rare infectious
(exotic) or virulent diseases -
Use its expertise to determine
and confirm microbiological diagnoses -
Control the quality of
microbiological analyses -
Carry out various laboratory
evaluation and quality control programs -

PROFESSIONAL
SKILLS
The
selected candidate will be called on to manage a team of over 140 and must therefore
have experience in human resource and financial management, in addition to
his/her experience in advanced science. He/she must also demonstrate the
ability to motivate and effectively communicate with a work team in order to
